Electronic Arts established itself as a major force in the UK operator games charts in 2006, accounting for 13 of the year's 50 best-sellers, according to figures from ChartTrack/ELSPA.
Glu is placed second with nine games in the top 50, which is based on cumulative sales on the five main operator portals during the year, followed by i-Play with seven and Gameloft with five. Only 15 publishers are present in the rankings overall.EA, which only really entered the market at the beginning of 2006 following its acquisition of Jamdat, also had the year's number one game in the form of Tetris. The top three is rounded out by Glu's Sonic The Hedgehog: Part One and Gameloft's TV show tie-in Deal Or No Deal.
The top 10 includes three games each from Electronic Arts and Glu and is comprised exclusively of console/PC ports or licensed IP.
In terms of original IP, the highest-ranking titles are Gameloft's New York Nights: Success in the City and Infospace's Pub Pool.
