Dragonplay secures $14m funding

Capital will allow the mobile social gaming firm to expand to iOS.

Israel-based Dragonplay was launched in 2010 and has since been providing social games for Android and Facebook.

Now, the firm plans to expand to iOS following a $14 million series A round from Accel Partners, Founder Collective and Entree Capital.

Leading investor Accel is no stranger to investing in gaming, with mobile's biggest developer Rovio among previous conquests.

Additionally, the funds will also support investments, new Android and Facebook projects and staff hires.

Despite the expansion, the firm still considers Android to be the most lucrative platform in the future, according to TechCrunch.

Dragonplay has a focus on freemium card-based casino games, while its Live Holdem Poker Pro has been downloaded more than 12 million times.
