Dove and Sprint sign up for Greystripe's new rich mobile web ads

Company declares war on 'static, undifferentiated banners'.

Mobile advertising firm Greystripe has expanded its rich media in-app ads to mobile websites, with a new RevMax for Mobile Web program.

It includes Greystripe's Immersion and Expandable ad units, with the company touting the latter as 'iAd-like'.

Until now, these units have only been available for native iOS, Android and Java apps, but advertisers will now be able to deploy them on mobile sites too.

Dove and Sprint have already signed up to run campaigns using RevMax for Mobile Web.

"There is a huge opportunity in the mobile web, which has previously been relegated to static, undifferentiated banners," says Greystripe CEO Michael Chang.

"This is going to revolutionise mobile web monetisation because our Immersion ads are so much richer than anything else out there."

The new mobile web ads will be viewable on iOS, Android and BlackBerry devices, although at launch the latter will only support static ads.

Here's a video demo of how the rich ads will work on mobile sites:
