dotMobi hits a million

One million .mobi web sites have been registered since the scheme started two years ago.

dotMobi, the company that administers the .mobi domain used websites optimised for mobile usage, says it now has a million registered URLs.

The company says its mobiForge.com developer forum, which offers tools and other resources, has amassed 20,000 members.

dotMobi itself highlights Nokia.mobi, Mercedes-Benz.mobi, Zagat.mobi and Bank of America’s BofA.mobi as sites that successfully use custom, intuitive browsing experiences for mobile users.

Trey Harvin, CEO of dotMobi, said: “dotMobi has established relevance, order – and now success – in what two years ago was a muddled, confusing mobile Web world. We are excited to soon unveil the next generation of tools and resources that will assist small-to-medium businesses in utilising the mobile web.”
