Disneyland gets iPhone GPS game (but not from Disney)

Wishing Stars is a location-based scavenger hunt game that only works in Disneyland, California.

iPhone developer The Future of Pinball has launched a new location-based iPhone game, Wishing Stars, which only works in one place: Disneyland in California.

It's a scavenger hunt that sees players wandering around the real-world theme park finding virtual clues and solving puzzles. Some are based around queues for popular attractions - a clever feature, presumably to keep children occupied while waiting.

The developer is keen to stress that it's not an officially endorsed Disney product, although it will be interesting to see what Disney's lawyers make of it, especially as its developer is charging $5.99 in the US for it.

A separate version is in development for Walt Disney World in Florida, while updates will introduce new features in the months ahead - the official site's FAQ mentions "a small charge", which presumably means it will be using in-app payments.
