Survey shows two thirds of coders believe the big duo are too far ahead.
An IDC study commissioned by the app software vendor Appcelerator revealed that 62 per cent of respondents say it will be impossible for any other platform to haul back Apple and Google.
For 46 per cent, this is a simple matter of resources. They said "I have my hands full with iOS and/or Android."
Microsoft is now the third highest rated OS for developers in the survey, but only 29 per cent said they are 'very interested' in Windows Phone 7, while interest in BlackBerry was at 27 per cent.
Appcelerator implied that interest in Android has slipped very slightly because of fragmentation concerns.
Of the 2,760 developers questioned, 85 per cent were interested in developing for Android mobile phones – down two per cent from January this year – compared to 91 per cent for the iPhone.
