Developer Gamerizon raises $5m to expand Chop Chop series

Over 15m game downloads achieved so far.

The Montreal-based developer Gamerizon, best known for its Chop Chop series of iOS games, has now secured $5 million funding from investors Vanedge Capital and iNovia Capital.

The developer plans to make use of its finances by recruiting 100 new members of staff in two years, increasing the output of its releases and venturing into new platforms.

Alex Sakiz, Gamerizon's CEO, said: "We're extremely proud to be associated with such quality investment firms as Vanedge and iNovia as we scale up operations and leverage our Chop Chop franchise over numerous social and mobile platforms including Facebook, iOS, Android and Windows Mobile."

In a 16-month period, the Chop Chop games series, which started with Apple devices only, has accumulated over 15 million downloads. It can also now be found on Intel AppUp and BlackBerry App World.
