DeNA and ngmoco launch Mobage Android games community globally

Social mobile platform is live with more than 100 games in development, including titles by Japanese 'super creators'

Japanese social mobile games giant DeNA has launched its Mobage platform globally for Android, working with its ngmoco subsidiary to roll the service out to English-speaking countries.

Mobage is now available to download from Android Market, and DeNA says that more than 100 games are being developed for it. The service is also being launched in China, with other countries to follow.

"The opportunity in front of us is to build Mobage into the definitive destination for games and entertainment across territories and mobile operating systems," says ngmoco boss Neil Young.

"We’re tremendously excited about the potential for the platform, both as a great way for players to experience the very best games and for developers to access a global audience easily and effectively."

Mobage for Android will get players to create profiles that will run across all the games they play. Titles lined up for the platform include ports of iOS hits Zombie Farm, Pocket God, Haypi Kingdom, Pocket Frogs, Paper Toss and We Rule.

What's more, DeNA has separately announced that five well-known Japanese console developers are working on games for Mobage as part of an initiative called 'Super Creators'. They include Keiji Inafune (of Mega Man fame); Yuji Naka (Sonic the Hedgehog / Phantasy Star Online); Suda 51; Yoshifumi Hashimoto and Noritaka Funamizu.
