Tablet bows out after less than a year on the market.

Producing a top-selling tablet in the market seems to be a difficult task for some firms such as RIM, which is struggling to sell PlayBooks units each quarter.

Apple continues to dominate the market with the iPad, newcomer the Kindle Fire looks set for great things.

However, Dell's Android Streak 7 tablet falls into the 'difficult task' bracket as it will discontinue sales of the device in the States. While the item will become dead in the water for Americans, the firm says it will continue product sales overseas.

China is one of the locations the device will continue to be sold as the firm hopes the blossoming Asian market will see the device become a success.

This isn't the first time the firm has ditched a tablet either, in August Dell froze production of the five-inch, 3G model of the Streak 5 due to poor sales.

It's thought Dell may enlist Windows 8 to power tablets in the future as an alternative to using Android.
