50k apps available for a range of smartphones.
Dell is the latest company to launch its own mobile apps store: the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin Dell Mobile Applications Store.
It's launching with a catalogue of more than 50,000 apps, and is the result of a partnership between Dell and PocketGear.
Supported smartphones include Android, BlackBerry, Palm OS, Symbian and Windows Mobile.
Users on US and some of the bigger European operators are catered for, with pricing in dollars, pounds or Euros.
ME has been poking around the webstore, which feels a bit dated compared to its rivals. It's exceedingly text-heavy, and some of the handsets listed almost qualify as antiques.
Still, Dell's entry into the app store market - and its support of a range of non-Dell handsets - is an interesting and surprising move.
