DC comic books crash, bang and wallop into e-book stores

Digital DC comics

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's superhero-based downloadable content.

DC Entertainment, the 'number one comic book publisher in the US' (and Marvel's archenemy), has made its library of titles available in digital form on the Kindle Store, iBookstore and Nook Store.

That means fanboys needn't worry about soiling their mint condition copy of The Dark Knight Returns, simply downloading their favourite copies of the Justice League, Batman, Superman and so on.

Jim Lee, co-publisher, DC Entertainment, said: "As e-readers and tablets continue to explode in popularity it’s important for us to offer consumers convenience and choice in how they download digital comics and graphic novels and these new distribution deals with the top three e-bookstores do just that.

"We’re very excited to work with Amazon, Apple and Barnes & Noble to bring bestselling DC Comics and Vertigo periodicals to their e-bookstores."
