The region's total subscriber base will increase by over 500 million by 2013, says Informa Telecoms & Media.
Annual mobile service revenues in the Asia Pacific region will increase by more than 16 per cent from the end of this year to reach $326.37 billion by the end of 2013.
A new report from Informa also forecasts that the region’s total subscriber base will grow by 25 per cent to 2.53 billion in 2013.
Prepaid connections will continue to be the primary tariff, with the number of users rising from 1.52 billion in 2009 to 1.97 billion by 2013 - approximately 90 per cent of total net additions.
Informa points out that the vast majority of the growth will be driven by low-icome segments, the adversely affecting ARPU in the region.
However, it adds that as voice revenues decline towards the end of the forecast period, data revenues are forecast to rise from 30 per cent of total revenues in 2009 to 38 per cent by end-2013.
