Data shows iPad launch line-up will be games heavy

Flurry's analytics claim 44% of apps being tested on iPads now are games.

44% of the apps currently being tested on iPads are games, according to analytics firm Flurry. That's based on its monitoring of usage of apps containing its analytics software.

Flurry has produced a pie chart of apps being currently tested on iPad hardware running the iPhone 3.2 OS, for tech site AppleInsider.

Entertainment is the next largest category with 14%, followed by Social Networking (7%), Sports (6%) and Travel (5%).

Only 3% of apps testing on iPad are Books - although with Apple planning to sell dedicated e-books through its iBookStore, that's no surprise.

It seems iPad's dedicated section of the App Store will be games-heavy when the device goes on sale on 3rd April.
