Dan Appelquist joins BlueVia

Vodafone strategist and MoMo London founder to lead product development at O2 Telefonica unit.

This is a real coup for BlueVia, which was set up by O2 to give developers access to network APIs.

Appelquist is a well-known figure in the UK mobile R&D scene, having led the Vodafone team and started the MobileMonday London project in 2005.

He also helped to create the W3C Mobile Web Initiative, and since 2010 has been working with Sir Tim Berners-Lee on the W3C’s Technical Architecture Group and helping to bridge the gap between the mobile and Web worlds.

His is a new role at BlueVia, and one of of his first tasks will be to hire product managers to evangelist around giving web and mobile developers new ways to tap into telecoms infrastructure and commercialise their apps.
