Thumbplay is offering indie content owners the chance to reach 230m consumers through Thumbplay Open.
The US D2C firm is encouraging indies to package and sell their own digital media through the beta site, and generate income from every new subscriber that comes into the service (between $5 and $8). Additionally, site publishers can sell downloads their own website, application or widget and link through to the Thumbplay service. After uploading their content, artists can see their unique artist page appear on the Thumbplay Web and WAP sites within minutes. The content is then available for sale to visitors to Thumbplay’s sites and its 300 plus partner sites. It will start with music and visual artists, with gaming and video offered in the months to come. Content providers can reach consumers via their own sites or social networking services. They can also use the Thumbplay GET program, which uses a shrotcode.
Are Traasdahl, CEO of Thumbplay, said: “With Thumbplay Open, we’re now seeing a true realisation of the promise of the Web and mobile for distribution of digital content. Even in Beta, it is so easy to use that I am confident it will be the standard-bearer for developers and content creators everywhere. We’ve taken care of everything on the technology side and created a platform that allows users to do what they do best -- create and market.”
