CTIA 2010: Sprint debuts phone customisation app packs

New Android-based Sprint ID concept groups products together in categories like 'fashion and beauty'.

This is basically a punt by Sprint to claw back some control of the many home screens now available to users.

ID allows users to download pre-packaged groups of phone apps, widgets, ringtones and wallpapers rather than search for them separately in Android Market.

Sprint has launched the concept on three new Android devices only – the Samsung Transform, Sanyo Zio and LG Optimus S.

There's an ID button on the homescreen that links to a grid of ID options such as a Yahoo! app pack, Health & Fitness, Fashion & Beauty and more.
