CTIA 09: Media giants sign with Handmark

Handmark licenses app publishing platform to five major media groups including Time Inc.

The smartphone app retailer and content specialist is now working with the Associated Press, Canadian Press, Time Inc., Forbes.com, and CBS Interactive, giving them the means to create their own branded mobile applications.

These apps include:

    * Associated Press (AP) – new Spanish version featuring trusted AP news content and photos. News topics include National, World, Showbiz, Sports, Business, Politics, Wacky News, Technology, Lifestyle and Travel, with a special focus on customizable Local News content.
    * Canadian Press – new French and English versions will allow users to quickly view, save and share trusted news and photo content from the Canadian Press. News topics include World, Entertainment, Sports, Wacky News, Science, Business, Technology, Travel, as well as customizable Local News.
    * mine – supports a new digital magazine developed by Time Inc. and American Express Publishing Corporation allowing readers to choose editor-selected content from top brands, including CNNMoney.com, Food&Wine.com, Golf.com, InStyle.com, People.com, RealSimple.com, SI.com, Time.com and Travel+Leisure.com, to create their own free, personal, customized magazine.
    * Forbes.com - provides one-click access to full stories published by Forbes.com, as well as personalized stock updates and market data, designed to serve the needs of business leaders, professionals, investors and affluent consumers.
    * BNET (owned by CBS Interactive) – featuring a broad range of news, information, and advice on business and management issues, designed to help business managers succeed at work and in their personal finances.
    * ZDnet (owned by CBS Interactive) – featuring a broad range of news, analysis, and product reviews from top editors and IT experts.

They are immediately available for BlackBerry with Windows and Java versions in development.
