App ties into online reading community.
A new iPad app called Copia aims to bring more of a community feel to e-book reading.
The app ties into the online community of the same name, and was released for iPad last week as a free download.
"As the world’s first social eReading experience, Copia allows you to read and discuss the books you love with your friends and fellow readers," explains its App Store blurb.
"Copia for iPad is a feature-rich, easy-to-use eReader that links to the Copia social reading community and marketplace at www.thecopia.com, allowing you to sync digital books, notes and social activity between web, desktop application and iPad."
In other words, Copia is a combined e-book store and e-reader app just like Apple's iBooks and Amazon's Kindle, but with social features thrown into the mix too, including discussion groups and recommendations.
