Lumines was created by Tetsuya Mizuguchi and his company,Q Entertainment, and is defined by its use of ‘skins’ that theme the game in terms of look and soundtrack. Connect2Media working with major dance music labels to provide content for the games.
The franchise has already spawned PSP, PC, Xbox, PlayStation 2, XBLA, PlayStation Network and iPhone versions.
“Lumines is a unique product,” said CEO Eric Hobson. “With the work we did on the Guitar Hero franchise, in the last couple of years, we established the fact that popular music games could really thrive on mobile devices. Now, with Lumines, we are set to take advantage of advances in technology and create a new benchmark in mobile music led games.”
