Conde Nast reveals magazine apps figures including New Yorker success

75k digital subscriptions for June issues of all mags, while 20k people are paying $60 a year for the New Yorker

Magazine publisher Conde Nast had 75,000 digital subscribers for June issues of its magazine apps, the company has told PaidContent. It also sold 31,000 single issues of its nine digital mags, which have so far generated more than seven million app downloads.

Overall, Conde Nast has attracted 242,000 digital edition customers in a six-week period following Apple's launch of in-app subscriptions in May this year, although 136,000 of those were already subscribing to print mags, and were able to add the digital editions for free.

The New York Times has more stats on one particular success story for Conde Nast: the iPad edition of its New Yorker magazine. It now has 100,000 iPad readers, with around 20,000 of them paying for a subscription.

At $59.99 a year, that's just under $840,000 of annual revenues, although the publisher says several thousand people buy single issues for $4.99 every week.
