German firm signs licensing deal with Klausner Technologies.
German mobile firm Communology has announced that it has signed a patent licensing agreement with Klausner Technologies to launch Visual Voicemail services for European operators.
The company is branding the service as "One-Stop VVM", although it's already worked with European operator T-Mobile on the latter's MailboxPro Visual Voicemail service in Germany - the operator signed its own licensing deal with Klausner earlier this year.
Communology's separate deal means more European operators should get the technology, which came to prominence when Apple introduced Visual Voicemail in its iPhone.
That device was the subject of legal wrangles between Apple and Klausner though, with the latter suing Apple and AT&T Wireless in December 2007 for patent infringement.
The two companies settled the suit last Summer and became a licensee of the technology.

The upshot of all this? Soon, Visual Voicemail may well be a standard feature for European mobile handsets, rather than a big selling point for the iPhone.
