Comes With Music user numbers revealed

33k users in the UK in July, and 107k worldwide.

Nokia’s Comes With Music service had just over 107,000 active users globally in July, according to figures sent out to labels and distributors, and subsequently leaked to Music Ally.

In the UK specifically, Nokia had just under 33,000 active users in July. The obvious comparison is to Spotify, which had 2.7 million users in July, and has claimed that the number of those who are premium subscribers is in six figures.

The figures seem to show that Comes With Music is going down better in emerging markets – particularly in Latin America – than in the big Western European countries.

For example, CWM launched in both Brazil and Italy in April this year, but by July Brazil had nearly 11,000 subscribers, whereas Italy had a mere 691.

Nokia has responded by saying “we do not comment on industry speculation or rumours”, but alludes to more launches and partners in the weeks ahead.
