Comes With Music 'to close within a year', says analyst

MKM Partners analyst reckons Nokia's all you can eat music service can't compete with iTunes

Specifically, Tero Kuittinen predicts Comes With Music will have its plug pulled be the end of 2010.

Kuittinen says: “The time to really push for a premium service to compete with Apple was two to four years ago... I give it a year before they close it.”

His argument is backed up by others in the article, who variously point to the sizeable gulf between the numbers of downloads iTunes and Comes With Music generated after just over a year of availability, a tricky marketing message and the impact that streaming-based newcomers like Spotify are making.

However, Nokia is throwing considerable weight behind its music projects over the next 12 months (including its a la carte store), including tie-ups with artists like Rihanna, increased handset support and v2 of its Ovi Store content offering.
