Catch-up videos, blogs, special reports and sharing features for UK broadcaster's flagship news app
UK broadcaster Channel 4 has launched an iPhone and iPad app for its flagship Channel 4 News show, with an Android version on the way soon.
The free app allows viewers to catch up on news reports from the last seven days, while also serving up blogs from presenters Jon Snow and Cathy Newman. The iPad version has additional special reports and galleries.
"We know our audience, and in particular many of our website users, are very tech-savvy and increasingly, want to engage with Channel 4 News through social media and through their mobile devices," says Channel 4 News' senior programme editor, online, Paul Brannan. "We’re happy that this app will deliver that to them in a way that highlights the best of our original journalism."
The app was developed by Clearleft, working with Mobile IQ. It will face competition from apps from the BBC and Sky on the App Store, as well as numerous newspapers and news sites.
