D2C content provider Cellfish Media has raised another $10 million, taking its 'first round' fundraising total to $60 million.
Cellfish, which is part-owned by media and publishing giant Lagardère, is responsible for the Barrio Mobile, BlingGames and BlingTones brands in the US, Germany and France.Today's $10 million injection, courtesy of Montreal-based Solidarity Fund QFL, is geared towards launching a new consumer mobile entertainment property in North America and Europe this summer.
The $60 million total it has raised to date puts Cellfish, which until now has kept a low profile, into the big league of content fundraising - only the likes Hands-On and Amp'd have secured more in the US. The company claims revenues of $100 million.
Cellfish CEO Fabrice Sergent said: "This round of financing will be used to accelerate our consumer offerings as we look to provide mobile entertainment in new ways beyond traditional distribution models. Cellfish Media is already a major provider of original mobile content but will be expanding its services and partnerships with a major product launch set for the summer of 2007."
Jacques Bernier, Solidarity Fund QFL’s SVP of IT, telecommunications and industrial innovations, said: “We are proud to invest directly in companies such as Cellfish Media that have successfully penetrated high-potential markets and generated over nine-figure revenue performance annually since 2005."
