Catalus study: Women have storage issues

Women are a bit clueless about phone memory, says new industry survey.

A study by the memory distributor Catalus found 13 per cent of women said that they ‘didn’t have a clue’ if their phones had a removable memory card slot, compared with only four per cent of men. It describes the number as ‘staggering’ although it sounds impressively low to us.

Catalus suggests that retailers and handset manufacturers need to do more to educate female consumers about memory. Dave Flack, director of marketing at Catalus, said: “The overwhelming message that the results signify, is that manufacturers and retailers are simply not doing enough to educate their female buyers about mobile phone memory. They’re missing a trick with the female audience, and ultimately loosing out on sales opportunities.

The survey was commissioned in July 2007 and questioned over 500 about digital storage issues.
