Buyster to launch on tuesday

France's big three operators ready to dive into the 'pay by mobile' space with 30,000 e-tailers.

Buyster was unveiled earlier this year as a JV between Orange, Bouygues and SFR and IT company Atos Origin. It associates a bank card with a mobile phone number and thereby pay for goods without ever surrendering bank details.

The founders say this will improve security and therefore transaction completion/conversion rates.

It is available free for all mobile devices, regardless of the operator.

Buyster is approved by Banque de France and provides its users with access to an email and call support service available from 8 am to 10 pm, seven days a week.

Among those 30,000 merchants are  4 Pieds, AchatDesign, Jennyfer, Kiabi, La Boutique Officielle, Monde Bio, Spartoo, Surcouf, Téléthon, Ubaldi and more.

Gauthier Picquart, CEO of Rueducommerce.com, said: “It’s a pleasure for us to become the first e-retailer to offer Buyster. Buyster makes it possible to combine fluid traffic, speed and security, while protecting us against fraud thanks to its reinforced security over mobile phone, making it possible to guarantee payments.”
