Buongiorno is preparing a wider launch of its social networking app, Bing, at MWC next month.
Bing was successfully launched in June 2007 in Austria and a few months later in South Africa, and now has 380,000 registered users sending more than five million messages per week and over 850,000 downloads.The application gives users access to SMS, IM and content sharing from one open Java software download and is free of charge. It can operate irrespective of operator and handset model.
Buongiorno is now Bing looking to expand across Australia, New Zealand, India and Indonesia.
Fernando González Mesones, head of global marketing, product and supply at Buongiorno, said “The enormous popularity of social networking obviously represents a huge opportunity for us. It is our goal to become one of the most recognised global brands in mobile entertainment and instant messaging is a part of that.”
