Physical contact-swapping application is a platform now, though.
iPhone developer Bump Technologies says its Bump app is closing in on 10 million downloads on the App Store.
Co-founder Jake Mintz tells VentureBeat that the company's focus is now on becoming a technology platform for other iPhone apps to use.
Bump lets people physically bump their iPhones to swap contacts. Apps using its API already include CheckOut, CloudNote and Assemble.
It could even be used for iPhone games in the future - swapping virtual coins or items, for example. The article explains that Bump will also work on the iPad.
Interestingly, it seems Bump usage spikes during weekends rather than on weekdays - which kiboshes the idea that it's purely a business thing.
