Voice blogging firm brings out the 'bubbly' after success in India.
The service, Bubbly, has two million users overall, and Bubble Motion claims to be adding 100,000 new paid ‘Bubblers’ a week.
Bubbly lets people share voice updates with friends, family, fans and followers by recording updates on their phone. It is configured like a voice-based Twitter, using SMS alerts and dial-in codes to record and receive voice updates.
In India, the service has the kind of status Twitter is enjoying in the West. Indian icon Amitabh Bachchan, for example, has more than 350,000 followers to his Bubbly voice-blog, compared to 250,000 on Twitter.
Critically followers on Bubbly are paying up to 30 rupees ($0.65) per month to be notified in real time of voice-blog updates per celebrity they are following.
Bubbly is already available to over 230m subscribers in India, and rollouts in Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Japan are slated for later this year.
