bliquo location app travels from Spain to UK

Aggregating data from Toptable, Tipped, Qype and others.

With so many location-based apps available on iPhone and other smartphone platforms, there's increasing appeal in apps that aggregate the data from several.

One such app is bliquo, an app developed by Spanish startup ExperienceOn that lets users find restaurants, bars and clubs near their current location, read reviews and make bookings.

The app has been downloaded more than 80,000 times in Spain, and is now coming to the UK for iPhone and Android handsets (the iPhone versions are here).

Its twist is that it pulls in data from several sources. "We integrate the best websites in each country where we go," product manager David Douek tells ME.

"In the case of the UK, that means having all the venues listed in Qype, Toptable, ViewLondon, Bookatable, Tipped and TrustedPlaces. We also have all the user comments coming from these sources to help users make better decisions."

Currently, bliquo lets users book tables through Bookatable, although Douek says it's planning to sign more partnerships. The app is available in premium and lite versions - the difference is that there are no ads in the former.

"We plan to make revenues mainly through the bookings, but also through advertisements and sales of our premium product," says Douek.
