Binbit processes its four billionth SMS

Mexican firm takes just five months to do a billion.

This is just the latest milestone in a whirlwind year for the Latam D2C specialist, which hit 3bn SMSs sent in June, and has also expanded into new regions through office expansion and acquisitions.

Binbit was launched in 2006 and offers a range of mobile consumables, some of which is original, some of which comes from major licensors such as EMI Music, Universal Music and  Associated Press.

The firm has expanded hugely since launch in 2005, and will be present in 35 countries by the end of this year including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Kenya, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. It's set to launch Binbit services in Oceania, and has plans for ten more offices in the next six months.

Earlier this year, it purchased Indonesian SMS provider Forest Media International.
