For Everymanc A Religion goes free through deal with bookmaker.

Unofficial Manchester United app For Everymanc A Religion (FEAR) has changed from a paid app to a free download on iPhone, after netting a sponsorship deal with bookmaker BetFred.

Launched by Pledge Media in May 2011, the app offers news, videos, crowd chants and wallpapers based on the football club, as well as a Manchester-focused music and videos section including content from Ian Brown, the Stone Roses and The Smiths. That includes a remix feature to monkey about with Ian Brown's For Everyman A Religion song.

The developer says BetFred is the first in a series of planned sponsorship deals to keep the app free, with more to be announced in the coming weeks.

Pledge says that FEAR is currently the most downloaded Premier League club-related app in the UK on iPhone: at the time of writing, it's in 19th place in the Free Sports Apps category on the UK App Store.
