Beck's launches Gig Finder branded iPhone app

Tapping lagerlagerlagerlager...

Lager brand Beck's is the latest company to dive into the App Store, releasing a music application that promotes its bottled booze.

Beck's Gig Finder has, as the name implies, a focus on live music. Specifically, it lets users search for gigs near their current location, or any location of their choice.

They can then look on Google Maps to see where the venues are, email details to friends, and find out more information about the bands who are playing. Links are provided to watch their YouTube videos too.

The application is free, and ties into music website Last.fm's database for the information. It looks set to go down well with UK music fans.

It's not the first alcohol brand to launch an iPhone app, though. Carling's iPint was a smash hit in the early days of the App Store, while vodka brand Absolut recently launched its Drinkspiration app.
