Bebo extends Canadian mobile services

Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers Wireless and Virgin all deploy Bebo Open Mobile functionality.

Social networking giant Bebo says it has successfully rolled out its Open Mobile programme across Canada.

Operators Bell Mobility, Fido, Rogers Wireless and Virgin Mobile are all now offering Bebo Open Mobile Messaging, which means their customers can receive Bebo alerts and updates on their mobile phones through the local 2326 (BEBO) short code.

Additionally, they can update their Bebo profiles, participate in special offers, send virtual goods and interact with friends through the short code.

On top of that Bell Mobility and Virgin Mobile Canada have deployed Bebo Open Mobile Internet, which is a mobile internet platform with tailored navigation and operator specific customisation options.

The deployments were all soft launched in late-December, which Bebo says resulted in page views for the Bebo mobile site in Canada to rise by 43 per cent in January.
