Beatles iTunes deal still a way off

"Don't hold your breath", says Yoko Ono

Fans of the Beatles will have to wait a bit longer for the band's back catalogue to appears on Apple's iTunes store, according to Reuters (via ABC News).

Yoko Ono - John Lennon's widow and one of four shareholders in Apple Corp, the holding company that controls rights to The Beatles catalogue - alluded to ongoing issues between it and the iTunes pioneer.

She said: "Steve Jobs has his own idea and he's a brilliant guy... There's just an element that we're not very happy about, as people. We are holding out. Don't hold your breath... for anything."

That element is widely though to be the royalties being offered by Apple, with Paul McCartney referring to "a couple of sticking points" when there were rumours about a deal back in 2008.

The most recent Beatles-iTunes rumours circulated in August last year ahead of an Apple press conference that coincided with the launch of the band's remastered back-catalogue on CD.
