Pages will resize automatically based on the accessing device.
BBC World Service has launched new mobile sites for Indonesia and BBC Hausa, which both come sporting Responsive Design. The technology detects the screen size of the device the user is browsing from, with the page then adapting accordingly to ensure one size fits all.
The launch has been designed to offer the best possible user experience for mobile users, while the Russian-language news site, bbcrussian.com, will receive Responsive Design in February.
James Montgomery, controller of digital and technology, BBC Global News, said: "These are milestones in the digital development of BBC World Service. This technology - already adopted on the BBC’s international news website, bbc.com/news - unlocks our ability to deliver the very best mobile user-experience.
"It is particularly well suited for BBC World Service, whose audiences use a huge variety of handset types to access our content, from newest editions of smartphones to low-tech feature phones."
