App Store gets special edition of Dreams From My Father.
Barack Obama's inspirational book? There's an app for that. Dreams From My Father has been launched on iPhone as an e-book application by Enhanced Editions and Canongate Books.
Enhanced Editions? They're a new e-book production house, setting up at just the right time to capitalise on the App Store, not to mention the proliferation of new e-book readers and tie-in stores.
The Obama e-book will include a feature to email extracts to friends, as well as a tilt-scroll feature to move through the text without touching the screen. We're not too sure about that latter one - don't you want to keep the screen still when reading an e-book?
Canongate is selling the e-book version of Dreams From My Father for £4.99 on the UK App Store, alongside a version of his other book, The Audacity of Hope.
The pricing is interesting - much more comparable to an iPhone app than to a hardback (or even paperback) book. Which makes sense to us.
