Search begins for new chief exec at mobile games publisher.
Glu Mobile has announced that Greg Ballard is to step down from his position as its CEO after six years of service.
However, Ballard will remain in the post until a successor is found.
The Glu board has retained Martha Josephson of Egon Zehnder, an executive recruiting firm, to help identify new candidates to lead the company.
During his time at Glu, Ballard took it to IPO and for the last 12 months has overseen a move into high-end games for various smartphone platforms.
In a statement Ballard said: “After six years, I have decided the timing is right to look for a new challenge. I’m incredibly proud of how much we accomplished during my tenure, having built what I believe to be a world-class global enterprise.

“The Glu board and I also share the view that this is a good time to bring in new leadership for the company, as we focus on returning to generating positive cash and begin even greater investment in next-generation mobile platforms. I especially want to thank the tireless and dedicated efforts of the worldwide Glu team, who I continue to believe are the best in the business."
Last month Glu was the subject of much M&A speculation after a sharp rise in its share price.
In tandem with the Ballard announcement, the company has also reaffirmed that it expects its final financial results for the second quarter to be consistent with the guidance that the company provided on May 6th.
