Backflip takes on Harbor Master

New iPhone title Harbor Havoc 3D combines both naval and aeronautical line drawing

This is getting complicated. Brilliant iPhone title Flight Control single-handedly created the ‘line drawing’ genre, leading to a host of imitators. Now a new release from Backflip is looking to rival both Firemint’s original and one of its most successful imitators.

Harbor Havoc 3D will be instantly familiar to anyone that has played either the 1.5m+ selling Flight Control or Imangi’s nautical clone Harbor Master. It tasks players with directing both planes and boats – as well as helicopters – safely to the in-game ports.

The title operates on three layers, so whilst submarines can’ crash into boats or planes, they can crash into other subs. The same is true of both the planes and boats.

Spicing things up a tad is the inclusion of night levels, where players will only be able to see the parts of the map illuminated by a lighthouse.

here are so many line drawing games on the market now that it could be tempting to dismiss Harbor Master 3D were it not for the fact that the game comes from Backflip Studios – the same team behind the immaculate Paper Toss (and Ragdoll Blaster).

Touch Arcade reports that Harbor Master 3D is currently awaiting approval from Apple.
