Avatar director thinks watching movies on iPhones is 'dumb'

James Cameron isn't making iMovies...

Ever watched a film on your iPhone? It's actually not that bad, eh? Pretty watchable.

James Cameron doesn't agree. It seems iPhone isn't the king of his world when it comes to movies, judging by his comments at the launch of Avatar's Blu-ray edition.

"If someone wants to watch it on an iPhone, I'm not going to stop them, especially if they're paying for it, but I don't recommend it. I think it's dumb, when you have characters that are so small in the frame that they're not visible. I'm trying to make an epic. I'm not doing an episode of some talking heads, one-hour drama. To me, there's a limit that you wouldn't want to go below."

We don't know what he's talking about. Sure, if you watched Avatar on your iPhone, you'd lose the 3D and spectacular special effects. But you'd still have the plot, the script, the characterisation...

Oh. On second thoughts, perhaps "dumb" is the right word after all.
