Avanquest in the mobile picture

PC utility software specialist Avanquest has entered the mobile content space with the launch of its own photo sharing service.

SendPhotos Mobile is an ambitious product for the Paris-based developer, which is best known for its desktop utilities and a Windows-based PC-to-mobile synchronisation app.

The new service is essentially a device memory management technology - like LifeBlog or Shozu before it - that automates the uploading of images to an online locker.

Avanquest says operators can customise and deploy the client software, which works across Java, BREW, Palm, Linux and Windows Mobile devices. Punters can upload their pics to any existing photo portal (Flickr etc) or Avanquest’s own SendPhotos.com site.

David Wright, president of Avanquest's OEM division, said: “Our patented phone client manages phone memory to ensure that the user always has room to take pictures with their phone. It also gives manufacturers and their customers the ability sell higher resolution cameras without the costs of added memory. This strategy is particularly valuable in mid-markets and emerging markets where much of the industry subscriber growth is occurring.”
