Audi Le Mans app uses augmented reality

Audi Le Mans app uses augmented reality

UK agency Somo builds app that lets users drive cars around their desktop via an AR trigger.

The Audi UK 24H app is available for free on iPhone, iPad and Android, and supports Audi's presence at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hour endurance sportscar race.

It contains a number of 'apps within an app', giving access to the teams, calendar of events, technical specifications and more.

But the big 'first' is the AR, which is of the 'visual' kind – ie accessible via an AR trigger rather than linked to the compass/GPS.

Carl Uminski, COO of Somo, said: "Audi has leveraged its investment in the Le Mans race programme and brought its millions of fans onto the circuit wherever they are.  This is the power of mobile and Audi knows how to use it.”
