AT&T launches full-track downloads with eMusic.
The DRM-free OTA service offers 2.7 million songs from indie labels, which AT&T claims - probably accurately, though we haven't counted the others - is the largest mobile music library in the US right now.A $7.49/month subscription entitles the user to download five tracks a month in MP3 format (equivalent to $1.50 a track), with copies also sent to their desktop PC. From there the songs can also be copied to an MP3 player.
If an eMusic Mobile user wants to download more than five songs within the month, however, they'll have to stump up another $7.49.
The service will be initially available for the Samsung a717, a727, new versions of the Samsung SYNC and the Nokia N75. The Apple iPhone, which AT&T launched last month, is not compatible with the eMusic Mobile.
AT&T says the new service will compliment its existing Napster To Go offering, which it launched in March as a free service for a one-year period.
