Special event this week could see other US operators join the party
Hot Hardware says AT&T could be losing its exclusivity on the iPhone, citing sources within the US operator.
The article says the news will be revealed publicly at Apple's much anticipated launch event this Wednesday (ostensibly to showcase its new tablet device), with Verizon strongly rumoured to be the first beneficiary.
AT&T was the first operator to offer the iPhone when it first launched in 2008, but has experienced well-documeneted problems dealing with the extra data the device is pumping across its network.
In fact, when the iPhone 3GS was launched last year the operator chose not to support certain features such as MMS and tethering, much to the dismay of its customer base.
