AT&T to deliver content to BMW cars

Safety and infotainment stuff to BMW Assist.

This deal represents the latest bit of business for an AT&T 'emerging device' unit created in late 2008 to introduce wireless capabilities to new consumer electronics, tracking and healthcare devices beyond the traditional handset.

The content on offer will include direct access to emergency and concierge call centre services, traffic information and an online portal for weather forecasts, fuel prices, and news.

"This is an exciting opportunity," said Glenn Lurie, president, emerging devices, resale and partnerships, AT&T.

"BMW has been an industry leader in the connected vehicle space for many years and we look forward to providing the wireless network that will keep drivers connected to the content and services they rely on."
