An elementary decision that includes Watson.
US telco AT&T has announced a licensing agreement and strategic alliance with voice recognition firm Vlingo, including taking a minority equity stake in the company.
The deal will involve Vlingo using AT&T's Watson technology for its mobile applications.
"Based on our evaluation, we have seen significant accuracy and performance gains with Watson compared to other core speech technologies that will allow us to create a dramatically improved user experience," says Vlingo boss Dave Grannan.
Vlingo has already been building up a fair head of steam with its mobile app, which lets users create text messages and emails, launch web searches and update their social networking status by speaking into their handset.
Earlier this month, it announced a deal to preload its app onto two Nokia handsets, as part of a push into Europe.
