US operator to help businesses create, publish and manage 1D 2D barcodes.
AT&T Mobile Barcode Services is being rolled out after a successful technology trial last year.
It includes a code scanning app that brands can embed in their own products, and a 'Code Management Platform' which clients can use to create barcodes and then manage the associated content.
This content can range from videos to coupons to sweepstakes to mobile websites.
The platform also delivers reporting capabilities to help finesse the resultant mobile marketing campaigns.
"Wherever people engage with traditional media - in newspapers or magazines, on signs or storefront displays - they can experience more with a mobile barcode," said Chris Hill, VP of Advanced Mobility Solutions at AT&T Business Solutions.

"After trialing the technology with top companies in industries such as entertainment, retail, marketing and hospitality, we're confident that this solution will help our business customers to market more effectively and to immerse consumers in their brands, anytime and anywhere."
During July and August, AT&T customers can scan barcodes printed on their phone bill envelopes to check out their account information on their phones.
Interesting move by AT&T, which is treading on the toes of specialists like NeoMedia and ScanBuy through this action...
