AT&T gets Raw deal from WWE

AT&T is preparing to smash its subscribers over the head with exclusive wrestling content from World Wrestling Entertainment.

The content will be served up in a custom-built WWE portal offering access to exclusive WWE-themed videos, ringtones, voice tones, graphics and text-based services. Some video clips will be available as part of Cingular’s $19.99 a month media service plan, but the company will also sell a premium video package for $4.99 a month featuring highlights from WrestleMania and other shows.

Shane McMahon, WWE's executive VP of global media, said: “Imagine something happens at RAW, SmackDown, or WrestleMania 23, and moments later, that moment is available on an AT&T handset. Because we own our intellectual property, we have the unparalleled ability to create this must-have content for our fans.
