Aspiro Music doubles subscriber base to 200,000

That's 100 per cent growth in four months for Nordic music specialist.

Aspiro manages the WiMP music streaming service, which is currently available in Denmark, Norway and, Sweden.

Partners include Deutsche Telekom, Telefónica O2, Telenor, 3, TeliaSonera, the BBC, Aftonbladet, mBlox, TVNorge, Entel and VG.

Aspiro now expects continued high growth; it says 700,000 Canal Digital users will be offered WiMP as part of their TV-subscription in Norway from May.

Per Einar Dybvik, CEO of Aspiro, said:“The launch in Sweden in February, together with strong growth in Norway and Portugal doubled our subscriber base in four months.

"We expect a continued very high growth over the summer, as interest is high in general, and as the rollout through Canal Digital progresses. Our profile with editorial focus and guiding users to music has been very well received."
